Customer Opinions

Surpringly It Worked for us!

Having read a ton of bad reviews I was skeptical. But Santa brought this for my 6 year old son for Christmas so we had to try it.At first the dough stuck too badly in the mold to use, but then I remembered reading to spray with Pam first. Also, they recommend using flour to dip the mold into each time. The flour alone didn't help at all but once I tried spraying the mold first with Pam (I actually used the baking Pam with flour in it) and then dipped the mold in flour, it worked fine. Didn't stick anymore. That being said, the narrow tube hardly holds enough dough for one or two cookies and then you have refill it. And it's a bit hard for my sons to push down the plunger. Before they're baked the cookies looked great, but of course like all pressed cookies they lose a bit of their definition after baking. The boys still liked doing it and it wasn't as much of a disaster as I'd expected! We used the Betty Crocker sugar cookie dough mix as if making cutout cookies (add extra flour).

A lot of bad reviews, but we had fun using it!

My daughter REALLY wanted this product after seeing all of the commercials on tv. I read all of the bad reviews, but there were a few reviews that made me feel like this product could provide something positive. We made cookies with it this weekend and it was a lot of fun. I did follow the helpful advice of one reviewer. The person recommended using a spritz cookie recipe and refrigerate it for 1 hour prior to using. I also froze my cookie sheets for about 10 min. before putting the dough on it. My daughter had a great time squishing out the dough through the press making all sorts of unusual shapes. They weren't the prettiest cookies, but she had a blast being able to create whatever she wanted. I helped do the press with the different character shapes. My daughter who is 4 couldn't understand holding it down on the pan while pressing, but she did enjoy seeing the different animal shapes. One thing that many people recommend and is a must is spray the character mold with pam and then flour it before every cookie. Yes it is a little time consuming, but it works and your cookies won't stick. I meant to freeze the cookies for about 10 mins. before cooking so they would retain their shape better, but I forgot. You could still make out their faces, but I think they would have come out better had I frozen them for a little while first. This is not for a quick cookie experience. It is somewhat time consuming, but if done on a weekend the process can be a lot of fun with a young one. My daughter commented about the cookies "this is the best ever!" I didn't really care what the cookies looked like. I enjoyed letting my daughter mess around and create her own unique cookies.

Very difficult to use

Gave this to my 10 year old daughter for Christmas. We used it that day with sugar cookie dough. It does not work. The dough gets stuck in the tube used to press the dough out into the molds. Then the dough gets stuck in the molds. The cookies are very hard to make. We ended up throwing most of the stuff in the trash and using the cookie dough to make cookies with some old fashioned cookie cutters. That was much more fun.
